Music: after eating some strange eggs, a girl goes through an "inner metamorphosis" controlled by an octopus in Barcelona-based director Alan Masferrer's music video for Netherlands band Klyne.

After listening to the lyrics of the song, titled Lend Me Another Name, Masferrer wanted to create a narrative that explores the concept of changing identity.

"I worked in a very instinctive way, listening to the song again and again, so the ideas mainly came irrationally," he told Dezeen. "This is where the idea of the metamorphosis came from."

In the film, a contortionist covered in glitter eats what Masferrer identifies as "quirky eggs". She then begins to change into a different person, before evolving into a being with a multicoloured face.

Cutaways of an octopus are shown throughout the transition period, and are meant to represent the girl being controlled.
"It's a very linear story, but it wasn't meant to have a clear interpretation," said Masferrer. "It's more about feelings, to try to immerse the viewer into a surreal experience."

"You can see how a girl eats some quirky eggs and after that she experiences some kind of inner metamorphosis that is observed and controlled by an octopus, and finally a new being is created from all that," he continued.

The video relies heavily on visual effects, which Masferrer created alongside specialist Nico Zarza. After the studio shoot had finished, the two experimented with different 3D softwares and 360-degree cameras to replicate the lighting and make the shots appear seamless.
